Gary S. May is the Southern Company Chair and Dean of Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering. An alumnus of the college himself, May was appointed dean in 2011, and he is responsible for directing the nation’s largest engineering program., which enrolls nearly 60 percent of Georgia Tech’s student body.
As leader of the College, May has a front-row seat to some of the biggest changes and challenges facing academia. He writes about those issues on his blog, shining a light on topics like diversity in engineering and parents’ roles in college life. He also shares snippets from his daily routines as dean.
